1) People THINK I am outgoing and confident, but it is a clever ruse!!! I figure if I ACT that way, eventually I will BE that way!

2) I have lots of acquaintances, but very few friends....I think it is because I have trust issues.

3) I have 2 tattoos..one I got when I was young and stupid and it is now ruined by 2 pregnancies, and the second is a Canadian Maple Leaf on my ankle..which was never done correctly and has almost faded to nothing after less than a year!!!

4) I HATE putting away laundry...I will sort it, wash it, dry it, fold it and put it in laundry baskets....but that is where it stops..LOL

5) Even if my house is spotless, my bedroom will most likely be a disaster!! I have no idea why! I try...really I do!!!

6) This is my second and LAST marriage! If he leaves me, I am following him!

7) I have two border collies, Briar and Finnigan, and if we had lots and lots of property, I would probably get one more!

8) I am a reality Show junkie...i love watching those train wrecks! (my dirty addiction is the Real Housewives series!!)

ok...now to share...which I have no idea how to do it...but I shall try!!

As for what I have done today...lots of running about! And procrastinating..yup...done that lots!! That and my nasty time management skills...good thing I am not being graded on that!
I have three unfinished projects on my desk, and for the last week, i seem to wander into my office about 930pm and decide THAT is when inpiration will hit me and next thing I know it is 2 am and I can't see straight...

I think I bite off more than I can chew with all the projects I have got in the mix...which in one way is good as i have had little to do since I moved to Washington a year ago....so I should not complain about being busy!! LOL.....

I think I need to clean up my desk quickly, put the dogs to bed and plan on finishing this mini in the morning! CanadianWynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04035786112337089876noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2639070146704095777.post-41020518179907502882011-02-11T23:09:00.000-08:002011-02-11T23:09:43.328-08:00One Year....AlreadyToday is one full year, 365 days, since I crossed the border at the Peace Arch, handed over my immigration papers to the Officers and began living in the US as a Permanent Resident.
Moving to a new city is hard enough, but add moving to a new country and it was an adjustment. Both my kids had already left home, and were set in their 'grown-up' lives, but that didn't mean that the realization that their Mom now lived in another country, and that trips back and forth to see them would be costly wouldn't cross my mind, because it did, and it still does.

And now my daughter has a beautiful little baby boy who was a mere 3 weeks old last I held him. Jackson is now 7 months old, sitting up, eating solids, giggling and hamming it up to the Skype camera for Grammie and Papa. How I miss that baby! Haylie does her best to send daily pictures and reports...but I can't wait to hold all my babies in my arms again!

Meeting people and starting up conversations didn't seem as easy here as it was in Canada. This is the BIG CITY and people have lives..busy lives, and they seldom seem to be able to slow down and let new people in. I say a little prayer for dogs and scrapbooking, becks that is how I have met the group of ladies I am honoured to call friends., I have a great group of ladies that I craft with, a few ladies I walk dogs with, and a special relocated Canadian" friend that I have coffee with and is always available to lend an ear when needed. Thanks to these ladies, the homesickness isn't so bad!

My husband asked me if I regretted marrying him and moving here, leaving Canada, leaving my family, leaving my friends..and moving to a new country, new state, new town and starting basically over again.

One look in his eyes, and I knew I could never regret falling in love with him...so being with him and 'moving away', not leaving family, friends and country, is something I would do again in a heartbeat!

This may not be my Homeland, but it is my home now.
Now, pass the poutine and the Maple Syrup and turn on the Hockey game EH!CanadianWynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04035786112337089876noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2639070146704095777.post-53629524563522407642011-01-27T21:42:00.000-08:002011-01-27T21:42:20.465-08:00A Little Thank YouI am really liking this FaceBook "Pay it Forward" thing....it has really got those creative juices in me flowing!
Grace is studying hairdressing and also works in the LSS. I had an appointment with her today for foils and colour and a haircut, and last time I was there, I noticed she had a plain piece of paper with her name on it at her station. Soooo
Grace said she loved it and I am glad! She immediately hung it up at her station! But that is what crafting is about right? Giving to others to make them happy? It is a paperbag mini and I saw this technique of assembling it online somewhere, but now I can't find the video... The inserts are something I came up with, but I am sure someone else thought of it first!!

The recipient mentioned she liked purple, and loved girlish, frilly things... So I went with flowers and butterflies. The paper is all from a big pack I got at Costco a couple of years ago.....
I coloured flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts with my homemade glimmer mist and again...love the way they grab the colour!!! The lace is from A Tresure Nest I believe and it too is coloured with my sprays.
#3. I have a hard time trusting people since my first marriage broke up due to my ex's 3 year affair. And I am angry at myself that after 4 years it still affects me.
#4. I would love to be a dog trainer, but little dogs scare the CRAP out of me..I do not think they are cute or cuddly. I think thay are a bite waiting to happen.
#5. I wanted to be a wife and mothe more than any other 'career' out there...which is why I don't have a career now...LOL
#6. Not only do I talk to myself..I often carry on short conversations with myself! (I think from being alone too often)
#7. I SUCK with remembering names and dates and occasions...But I do try!
#8. I like driving...road trips re fun..unless it is snowing or raining at night....
#9. I love camping..but would rather have a camper or tent trailer than just tent, cause bears scare me!
#10. I HATE HOUSEWORK. and if i am cleaning like a madwoman..it is because i am really freaking MAD!! LOL...(my house is usually messy!)

Okay...that took more brain power than I thought it would be!!CanadianWynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04035786112337089876noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2639070146704095777.post-58840342272951617442011-01-14T17:27:00.000-08:002011-01-14T17:27:09.261-08:00Reverse Canvas Hanging
Quite a few months ago, probably even last year, I came across a video on YouTube by an Austrailina artist who used the reverse side of a canvas for her mixed media art. I remember it was metallic blues and greens and had such a wimsical feel to it. I was in awe! I think that was the video that got me into all these other forms of paper crafting, and using different materials and mediums to create with. I wish I would have wrote her name down so I could give credit where credit is due. I have seen other artist on YouTube since doing similar projects.

I finally broke down and used my Graphic45 Steampunk paper that I have been hoarding! It is so gorgeous I was afraid to use it!!

The pin is from Karen Foster. Pretty much all the metal used is Tim Holtz and I used gold Rub 'n' Buff on all pieces to give that great aged look!
I have seen these type of altered boxes for years, but never gave it a try before...

I made this for my mother-in-law, and I am really happy with the finished results...in fact, I have more boxes in the wings now!!!

I first covered the box with Gesso and then acrylic paint with a bit of metallic bronze mixed in. I used Weathered Wood Crackling Medium by DecoArt ad then a coat of acrylic paint... Hmm.. I still don't know if I should be wary, apprehensive, nervous or excited! The last few years have been emotional and mental roller coasters, this year I am thinking it would be nice to skip the carnival and just chill.

I have a friend here and we are doing a daily journal for the month of January...trying to give ourselves and each other some much needed support and the occasional "YOU GO GIRL" when we really need it. So this forum may be my journal..depends what I want to share!

But the first goal I have is to try and see the positive in situations before the negative. I tend to do that a lot, and more so over the last 5 years.... frankly..i don't trust people or certain situations. That happens when you have been repeatedly kicked in the teeth by people whom you thought you knew and you thought were in your corner so to speak. and it is worse when you realize that family members not only knew, but helped with the betrayal. Hard enough to forgive the one who did the hurt, let alone the masses who were helping. I was in counselling for a few years and have come to the conclusion that I prolly need to go back again. I am okay with that..but having to explain the whole reasoning to 'others'...that is an entirely new issue. but with my resolve ( still newly forming I assure you) I will continue forward.

ok....here we go....CanadianWynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04035786112337089876noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2639070146704095777.post-90653945675879408472010-12-27T13:21:00.000-08:002010-12-27T13:21:28.080-08:00Oh EBay...how I ADORE you!!I am an EBAY virgin....to an extent. Hubby is working tomorrow, so with just adults this year..we are celebrating tonight. The day is spent basically snacking, chatting and watching movies on TV...lol...tomorrow will prolly be the same!

So from our house to yours..Best of the Season and All the Best for 2011.CanadianWynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04035786112337089876noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2639070146704095777.post-44852096531791731692010-12-20T14:45:00.000-08:002010-12-20T14:45:53.705-08:00Ramble Ramble.... :)December 20th already...(actually, December has been creeping along like a slug for me)....It isn't that I WANT Christmas to be over, but my daughter and grandson are supposed ( notice I said supposed) to come visit in January, and I am far more excited about that than anything else. So I guess I am sorta overlooking the 'joy of the season' and good tidings and all that, and I just want to get to the spot where I get to cuddle that baby again! Hubby swears this year I am "channeling my inner Scrooge!"

I went to the mall today...in and out in under 20 minutes...knew what I needed, where they were..walked straight to the shelves, grabbed them and then stood in line for 11 minutes....if that isn't some sort of a record for a female shopper at Christmas.....I don't know what is!!! Men all over America should be in AWE of me!! LMAO!!! ( damn I am funny!!!!!)

I have been busy getting all the little handmade Christmas gifts done and finished. I am quite pleased with the way they turned out. I have a few recipients that are scrappers and some that are not, so some gifts are quite elaborate, and some very plain and serviceable! Can you guess which ones I had more fun making?? A dear friend has her birthday in January, and I have been working on her mini for quite a few days...I think I finally have it done..I just need to put a few charms together and find the right fibers and it too will be ready to ship.

I have purchased a few things off Ebay, but the whole process still is a little confusing to me...I watch videos of people who have multiple things from the same seller and I still have not figured out how you just put everything onto one order? If anyone can tell me in 'dummied-down' English, I would be most appreciative!!!

Happy Monday all!CanadianWynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04035786112337089876noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2639070146704095777.post-38774822370324772332010-12-16T11:13:00.000-08:002010-12-16T11:13:13.294-08:00Company is Coming!!My good friend Jeanni from B.C. is on her way for an extended long weekend visit!! And I cannot wait!! It will be great to have her here! I have the hid-a-bed made up, the scrap table cleared and set up, supplies have been bought, organized and most importantly...I stocked up on coffee and wine! LOL It will be great to have marathon scrapping mixed with chatting and laughter.......a perfect weekend if you ask me!

On a different note, here it is December 16th, and my house looks the same as it did weeks ago!! The urge to decorate for the holidays has not yet made it's presence known! And to a degree, I am fine with that. Hubby and I differ on tree selection, I prefer trees that come out of boxes, and he prefers one that can be turned into boxes! But here is the kicker! While he WANTS a live tree, he sure can bitch and moan about the tree not staying straight in the stand, or the fact that he doesn't 'like' having to move everything out from under the tree to water it every few days, nor does he appreciate the almost constant vacuuming of needles that is associated with a live tree..BUT..and apparently it is a big but THEY SMELL GOOD! (oh lordie)
And with the puppy, I am not keen to put out decorations and what not, just to have Finnigan ingest the suckers!!

Either way...he is a handful.
She is 18 months and such a doll..... She made owing and training a Border Collie seem so easy!! She has got directional whistles down pat (it is me that messes up) and I swear she has learned what B-A-L_lIn the New Year, Briar and I will get a bit more serious with the Agility training, while Finnigan starts on herding. Sheeesh..
My scrapbook room is a multi-purpose room to say the least! My desk holds my crafting, my computer, my coorespondance (fancy-assed name for BILLS!!) and the guest bed is in here as well. I am not a 'tidy' crafter to say the least....I have a few projects on the go on the desk, another sitting on the back of the couch...I have a basket in the corner with a few more things... Not only that, but I have packs of paper here....there....and most often in between!!! And at any given time, I have two rowdy Border Collies and a pissed off cat roaming underfoot. CHAOS!
I keep telling myself, I need to really get my ass in gear and not only clean up all my stuff and put it away, as well as clear off the top of the desk so I can SEE it, and it would be a good idea to organize it too before something happens......

sigh......something happened.

I was surfing the information hyway, blissfully enjoying that first cup of steaming caffinated goodness, when said Border Collies decided to REALLY piss of the cat and chase him into the room...double teaming him all the way. Finnigan( puppy) zigged left, Briar( older puppy) zigged right, and Hemi (said pissed off feline) took an alternate route, right onto the desk and sideswipped my coffee cup!!!

He works with oil rigs and whatnot and is gone in camps for long stretches of time, so about 11 am, he was told was heading home. Between then and 1:30 when he called Haylie top tell her to dress up and be ready by 5:30 he had arranged a babysitter, got reservations and contacted the jeweller that he would be stopping in to get the ring...( that boy thinks on his feet!!!) To make a long story short...things didn't go as planned at the resturant so he actually proposed when they got home! He said he asked her to be his wife, she broke into tears and said yes, hugged him and then screamed "WHERE IS MY PHONE I HAVE TO CALL MOM!!!!!" (did my heart good knowing she wanted me to be the first to know!!)

There is no rush to the alter..which gives me time to lose my 'depression' weight! ;) but I am soo excited and happy for them both. I knew the first time I met Jay he had that special something and I know my daughter has found the man she will love and who will love her..... (yep..kinda teary eyed here!)

ok...going to look for more Kleenex!!!CanadianWynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04035786112337089876noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2639070146704095777.post-77468762054591276352010-12-11T09:45:00.000-08:002010-12-11T09:45:46.229-08:00Posting Anew<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">oke dokie.....here we go....

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Tracy at Tracy's Treasures urged me to just start writing and something would happen! So here I go.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Some background.... I am 45, married 2 years to my hubby, a recent immigrant from Canada, a proud mother of two wonderful kids who really are, the best things i ever did with my life, and a GRAMMIE to Mr Jackson Ryan...the cutest, most wonderful, simply amazing baby in the entire world!! ( yea...that was a little too much huh???)

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Moving on....I am now living in Washington state after moving from Victoria, B.C. (where I moved to after leaving a small town in Northern BC!) I have had a lot to adapt to, meaning the people and whatnot, not so much the geographical location. <span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">I prefer cities and suburbs..I like having things at my ready...if I should need them. The hardest thing about the move was leaving the kids, but they are both grown and living their lives in northern Alberta.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Hmmm...I have a cat Hemi.( 8 years).and two Border Collies..Briar who is 18 months and Finnigan who is 4 months. They are siblings from different litters. They keep me busy and my mind off of other things! In fact..Briar is in my profile pic...

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">A funny story about the dog's names.... both are named after CANADIAN things.... "Briar" is from the Tim Horton Brier..and Finnigan...well..hello Mr DressUp!! (for those not Canadian and old...Mr DressUp was a children show and a true Canadian Icon RIP Ernie.)

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"> Prepare yourselves for a lot of rambling about the dogs. (as long as I don't turn into crazy dog lady we are good)

Moving on...I scrapbook... i have been scrapping since around 1995 and right now...I am totally all over the mini book craze!

ok....that is enough useless info for one day...... thanks!!! CanadianWynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04035786112337089876noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2639070146704095777.post-86569125763830855192010-11-02T00:25:00.000-07:002010-11-02T00:25:45.530-07:00First Blog Entry...I really do not have any idea for the direction i want this blog to go...so for now...i think i will leave it as is....a blank page waiting for inspiration.......CanadianWynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04035786112337089876noreply@blogger.com2
